Contact your Senators and Representatives to
secure fishermen’s measures in the Farm Bill.
When Congress reconvenes in January, a committee
will confer to align the House and Senate versions of the Farm Bill into a
final version.
Fishermen and other who care about sustainable
seafood need to contact their senators and representatives to ensure that
measures to help fishing families are retained in the final version of the
Farm Bill.
U.S. Fishermen face the
same economic realities of competing in a global economy, and should also
have same priority that the country dedicates to the sustainability of our
own domestic farm production.
Important points:
1. Support Fishermen’s
access to the Farm Loan Program’s Operational Loans.
2. Support Exxon Valdez
oil spill tax treatment for income averaging and one time retirement
contributions of partial settlement amounts.
What can you do to
help?
If you’re not an
Alaska resident, Fax a letter to your Senators and Representative today
and ask them to support Fishermen’s access to the Farm Loan program, and
EVOS tax treatment, as priorities in the U.S. Farm Bill.
If you are an Alaska
resident, please forward this to someone you know in another state and
follow up to make sure they write a letter and fax it to their senators and
representative today.
